PCHC-MoM Delegation Meets MP Jake Sawatsky & Minister Marc Miller at “Social with Sawatzky”

On July 26, members of the Pacific Canada Heritage Centre (PCHC-MoM) attended Social with Sawatzky, a community gathering hosted by Jake Sawatzky, M.P. for New Westminster-Burnaby-Maillardville, at White Spot Restaurant in New Westminster.

The event featured Canada’s Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture and Minister responsible for Official Languages, Honourable Marc Miller, who joined community members for an afternoon of conversation, light refreshments, and meaningful connections. It was a wonderful opportunity for people from diverse cultural communities to engage directly with a federal minister in an informal setting.
Representing PCHC-MoM were Co-President Stan de Mello, Director Raymond Williams, former President Pat and her husband Bert Parungao, volunteer Richard Adjale, and his fiancée, Georgina Amissah, a Realtor with RE/MAX.
One of the highlights was Richard Adjale’s opportunity to speak with Minister Miller. During their conversation, the Minister shared his memorable visit to Ghana in the past, creating a meaningful connection that reflected the value of cultural exchange and shared experiences.
Events like these strengthen government-community relationships and reinforce Canada’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and dialogue. They also provide valuable opportunities for organizations like PCHC-MoM to build connections that support our mission of preserving and celebrating migration and multicultural heritage.
